WILL LOCONTO

I’m a fourth year B.F.A. Design, Technology, and Management student at Texas Tech University with a concentration in Lighting and Projection Design. I am an ambassador for the College of Visual & Performing Arts and serve as Vice Chair of Texas Tech’s USITT chapter. Before studying at Texas Tech, I primarily worked as a technician for the Lake Travis Performing Arts Center in Austin, Texas for four years. Since moving to Lubbock, I’ve gained even more valuable experience surrounded by peers and staff as passionate about our craft as myself, working both with the School of Theatre & Dance and community theaters in the community.

This summer, I worked as Assistant Head Electrician / Stage Crew at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Beyond building valuable relationships and learning from my coworkers, I got the opportunity to grow my experience in working with and managing crews, and to further reinforce my technical skills.

I spent the summer of 2023 at the Santa Fe Opera as an Electrics Apprentice, which involved working within a team of ten apprentices to deliver five distinct operas in an outdoor, rotating rep season. This rigorous program leveraged my skills in all disciplines of lighting design and electrician work and helped to better prepare myself for the professional world.

I am most proficient in ETC Eos and Hog 4 consoles, but I’m eager and quick to slot into new roles. MA2/3 is a work-in-progress. I’ve been around the block in Vectorworks and Lightwright, and am an avid FileMaker Pro enthusiast.

Outside of the theater, I work professionally as a photographer, and possess skills in other disciplines like video and graphic design. I understand that having a varied skillset makes me that much more of a valued applicant, designer, and technician in my work everywhere I go. I like to occasionally spend time outdoors, typically slacklining, sailing, bouldering, or doing astrophotography.

I believe in the power of storytelling through light and design, and I'm eager to bring that passion to new stages and audiences.
